Sonya Katcher is an artist living in Brooklyn and working in NYC.  In addition to freelance illustration and fine art work, she runs an art program in a Manhattan supportive housing residence for adults with chronic mental illness.  Born and raised in the Haight Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco,  she grew up walking in Buena Vista park, a steep hill park lined with gold rush era tombstones. These stones were relics of the many cemeteries disinterred and moved to Colma during the first half of the 20th century.  She became haunted by the idea of what remains when a city shifts, changes, and re-builds.  So she began drawing different buildings, venues, urban landscapes, and their imagined ghostly residents.  These drawings expanded after moving to NYC in 2009 to become a series of surreal illustrations depicting the imagined lives of ghosts.
